Online Psychotherapy in English – Psychodynamic and Jungian
Some questions stay with us for a long time: recurring patterns in relationships, an exhaustion that a holiday does not resolve, or the sense of being stuck at a certain point in life.
Psychotherapy offers a space where these experiences are given time and can be understood in context.
I offer online psychotherapy in English for people living in Sweden, internationally mobile clients and anyone for whom coming to the practice is not possible at the moment.
My work combines psychodynamic psychotherapy with Jungian psychoanalysis according to C. G. Jung. Sessions are also available in Swedish and German.
What to expect from online psychotherapy
Sessions take place by secure video. You join from home or another quiet place.
The structure mirrors therapy at the practice: we meet within a consistent time frame, at regular intervals, and with the same attention to what lies between the words.
Many people value being able to fit therapy into everyday life without travelling. For expats and international professionals, online sessions also make it possible to continue therapy through moves, travel and changing circumstances.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy – understanding what shapes you
Psychodynamic psychotherapy starts from the idea that much of what troubles us today has a history.
Early relationship experiences, unconscious conflicts and inner protective strategies shape how we feel, think and relate to others. What once made sense can later become limiting.
In therapy we explore together how these patterns show up in your life now – in relationships, at work and in how you treat yourself.
The therapeutic relationship itself becomes a place where familiar patterns can appear and something new can be experienced.
Jungian psychoanalysis – dreams, symbols and personal development
Analytical Psychology according to C. G. Jung widens this perspective. It gives room to the unconscious – for example through work with dreams, inner images and symbols.
Dreams are understood as messages that often show precisely what has not yet found a place in conscious life.
Beyond symptom relief, the focus is on personal development – the process through which a person increasingly becomes themselves, which Jung called individuation.
I completed my analytical training at the C. G. Jung Institute in Küsnacht/Zurich and also work as a training analyst today.
Who online psychotherapy is suited for
Online psychotherapy suits adults who would like continuous, in-depth therapy – for a clearly defined concern as well as for questions that are harder to put into words. It is particularly helpful for:
- expats and international professionals living in Sweden
- people living abroad or moving between countries
- people with demanding professional responsibilities and limited time
- anyone who wants to continue therapy online for a period
- people in midlife who wish to reorient themselves and come closer to who they are
Many people seek psychotherapy in midlife – often during a phase they experience as a midlife crisis.
They sense that much of what once carried them no longer does, and they wish to let go of the old, feel themselves more clearly and give their own path more room.
C. G. Jung saw the second half of life as a particular opportunity for individuation – for growing towards what is already present within a person.
In acute crises, or when close in-person care is needed, the online format is less suitable. We will clarify in the first session whether it fits your situation.
Common themes in individual therapy
- anxiety, restlessness and persistent worry
- low mood, exhaustion and life crises
- recurring patterns in relationships
- self-esteem , shame and a harsh inner critic
- life transitions such as relocation, separation, midlife or retirement
- work-related pressure and questions of meaning and direction
How online psychotherapy works
The first session
In the first session we get to know each other. You describe what brings you to therapy, and together we clarify whether psychodynamic or Jungian analytical work fits your concern.
Frequency and duration
How often we meet and how long therapy lasts depends on your concern and your circumstances.
Some people come for a limited period with a specific question; others choose a longer analytical process. We agree on the framework together and adjust it as needed.
Combining online and in-person sessions
If you live in or visit Stockholm, online sessions can easily be combined with sessions at my practice near Odenplan.
Technology, confidentiality and framework
You need a device with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection and a room where you can speak undisturbed. Sessions take place over a secure video connection and are covered by my professional confidentiality.
I am a licensed psychotherapist in Sweden (legitimerad psykoterapeut). If you live outside Sweden, we will clarify in the first session which conditions apply to online therapy where you are.
A first orientation and preparation
If you would first like to sort out which themes are currently in the foreground, the self-assessment for individual therapy offers an initial orientation.
An intake questionnaire is also available to help you prepare for the first session.
Frequently asked questions about online psychotherapy
Is online psychotherapy as effective as in-person therapy?
For many concerns, psychotherapy by video has been shown to work well. What matters most is a reliable framework and a supportive therapeutic relationship. We will clarify in the first session whether the format suits you.
What is the difference between psychodynamic psychotherapy and Jungian psychoanalysis?
Both focus on unconscious processes and biographical influences. Jungian psychoanalysis also includes dreams, symbols and inner images and sees therapy as a path of personal development. In my work I combine both approaches and follow your concern.
Can I work with my dreams?
Yes. If you wish, dreams can become an important part of the work. No prior knowledge is needed.
Which languages are available?
English, Swedish and German.
Can I start online and come to the practice later?
Yes. Many clients move between online sessions and sessions at the practice in Stockholm depending on their circumstances.
Further services
Alongside individual therapy, I offer couples therapy and sexual therapy – in Stockholm and online.
As a body-oriented complement to psychotherapy, or on its own, I also offer Trager: a psychophysical integration method that supports deep relaxation and nervous system regulation and can help release tension and pain.
